Ericka Klingner
Research Development Coordinator
Ericka Klingner is a Research Development Coordinator, assisting in the design, planning, promotion, and administration of research in the College of Public Health. She provides programmatic assistance and expertise as well as administrative support for the Research Office, Institute for Public Health Practice, Research and Policy, and Dean’s Office. She came to the University of Iowa in 2019 where she initially served as a research associate, study manager, and administrative services coordinator.
Klingner began her career in northern Missouri as a substance abuse prevention specialist at Preferred Family Healthcare. She provided technical assistance to community coalitions in a nine-county region and gained experience in grant writing before becoming the Prevention Programs Administrator, managing multiple programs and staff.
Klingner then served as administrator of the Putnam County Health Department in Unionville, MO, for twelve years. She was responsible for daily operations at the health department as well as program oversight and deliverables through the contracts with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. She was active in the Putnam County Partners in Prevention coalition, Rotary, American Red Cross, and founded a local Parent Advisory Council to tackle child abuse and neglect. Ericka is a graduate of the Missouri Public Health Leadership Institute Cycle XIV. In 2014, she was named the Missouri Rural Health Champion. She is a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa.
