Program eligibility
MS, MPH and PhD students at the University of Iowa College of Public Health.
Program components
- Two foundational courses in maternal and child health (EPID/CBH: 4350 and EPID/CBH: 5350).
- Membership in a Maternal and Child Student Interest Group (MCH-SIG).
- Opportunities for research and practice experiences in maternal and child health.
- Guest speakers, including national and international experts in maternal and child health.
- Workshops and training in maternal and child health leadership, cultural humility, and health equity.
Courses
EPID/CBH: 4350
- One semester hour offered in fall and spring.
- Fall: In-person. Spring: asynchronous and virtual.
- Introduction to maternal and child health programs and policies.
EPID/CBH: 5350
- Three semester hour course offered every spring.
- Pre-requisite: EPID/CBH: 4350
- Life course approach to identifying the determinants and systems that affect the health and well-being of mothers and children.
