View the fifth session in our Building Health Equity webinar series: Food Access Equity: Giving Everyone a Seat at the Table. We featured Nicki Ross from Table to Table, Luke Elzinga from the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC), and Marlén Mendoza from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). This was a live session on September 14, 2022.

We discussed what equitable food access means and looks like in communities, the major drivers of food insecurity and who is most affected, as well as promising practices that can be implemented on-the-ground to promote food accessibility. The session included open conversation with attendees.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss what equitable food access means and how it looks within communities
  2. Learn about the major drivers of food access inequities and the populations that are most affected
  3. Explore a variety of methods that have been used to promote food accessibility
