View the ninth installment of the Building Health Equity webinar series: Renewable Energy Equity Practice in Iowa. We featured Kerri Johannsen, Energy Program Director for the Iowa Environmental Council, and David Osterberg, Professor Emeritus of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa. This was a live session on January 11, 2023.

We discussed what a path toward renewable energy looks like in Iowa, the impact of legislation on the clean energy movement, and how we can ensure social justice and equity during the promotion of clean energy usage. The session included open conversation with attendees.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss how renewable energy and health equity are connected
  2. Learn about the public health impacts of current and renewable power sources
  3. Explore how health departments can promote and advocate for renewable energy using a health equity lens
