While the devastating story of the Tuskegee syphilis study has undoubtedly impacted Black Americans’ trust in medical services, a deeper look into the reasons that Black Americans have received the COVID-19 vaccine at a significantly lower rate than white Americans reveals that other systemic barriers have played a major role in causing this disparity.
