View the fourth installment in our Building Health Equity webinar series, Investing in Rural Health Equity and Prosperity. This webinar featured Dr. Keith Mueller, director of the Rural Policy Research Institute and faculty at the Iowa College of Public Health; Cindy Houlden, working with the Homecare Worker Cooperative Academy through the Nebraska Cooperative Development Center; and Dr. Devi Dwarabandam, a Rural Prosperity Nebraska fellow. This was a live session on August 10, 2022.

We discussed the unique challenges and strengths that rural communities hold affecting health equity and economic prosperity as well as promising practices, tools, and resources that can be implemented to promote health in these areas. The session included open conversation with attendees.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss the current issues facing rural areas that threaten health equity and community prosperity 
  1. Learn about the programs and tactics being implemented in a variety of rural communities to address these issues 
  1. Explore ways to implement strategies to promote health equity and prosperity to meet the needs of all individuals and populations in rural settings
