View the eleventh installment in our Building Health Equity webinar series, Transportation and Health Equity Practice. We featured Audrey Wiedemeier, executive director of the Iowa City Bike Library, and Julia Castillo, executive director of the Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA). This was a live session on March 8, 2023.

We discussed what equitable transportation means and looks like, current challenges to achieving accessible transportation and the populations most affected, and strategies that health departments can implement to promote accessible transportation for everyone in their communities. The session included an open conversation with attendees.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss how transportation and health equity are related
  2. Learn about current transportation issues and who is most affected 
  3. Explore strategies to promote accessible transportation for all
