View the tenth installment in our Building Health Equity webinar series, Promoting Equity in Mental Health. This webinar featured Mona McCalley-Whitters, PhD, executive director of the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI)-Linn County, and Thad Abrams, MD, clinical associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Iowa and faculty advisor for the Iowa City Free Mental Health Clinic. This was a live session on February 8, 2023.

We discussed what equity in mental health is and looks like, which populations are most impacted by mental health care inequities, and what health agencies can do to prioritize equity in mental health for their communities. The session included an open conversation with attendees.

Objectives:

1. Discuss the meaning of mental health equity

2. Learn about health departments’ role in promoting mental health

3. Explore successful strategies for prioritizing equity in mental health
