2023 Iowa Lead Report Cards
The Institute for Public Health Practice Research and Policy was contracted by Iowa Health and Human Services (HHS) to complete several activities related to the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP), including the Iowa Lead Report Cards which report county-level data for community and stakeholder education and outreach. The Iowa Lead Report Cards were developed in conjunction with the Iowa Childhood Lead Advisory Workgroup (CLAW).
Iowa HHS is dedicated to improving the health of Iowans through numerous governmentally sponsored public health programs. The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) provides identification and case management for children with elevated blood lead levels, identification and control of lead paint hazards, surveillance of elevated blood lead levels, and education and outreach across the state.
This training is a general overview of childhood lead poisoning prevention in Iowa. It consists of 5 modules. Each 10-minute module covers a different topic including sources of lead, health impacts, lead and housing, blood lead testing, intervention services, and lead professional certification. This training was developed for all types of professionals— public health, child health services, educators, healthcare providers, housing industry (landlords, realtors, homeowners), and parents.
